Player laying on his/her back (with ball) next to the oob line. Pony tail swipes the floor touching the oob line. I guess violation?

Let's Go to The Videotape ...
2005-06 NFHS Basketball Rules Interpretations
SITUATION 9: A1 recovers a loose ball on the playing court near the sideline, with his/her body entirely in bounds. However, A1's head is hovering out of bounds and his/her hair (which is in a long ponytail) is touching the floor, out of bounds. RULING: A1 is called for the out-of-bounds violation. (7-1-1; 7-1-2; 9-3-1) |
What about a loose shoelace? A piece of athletic tape that has come unraveled?
Would anyone consider this different than the hair situation? This could apply not just for OOB, but potential violations -- e.g. a player in a marked lane space has an untied shoelace outside of the marked lane spaces. How would people handle these, assuming that it wasn't caught and corrected during a dead ball. |
Good thing as a referee I am close to legally blind cuz I aint seeing that...lol
