Play 1: Block. Slot should NOT even have a whistle here. Secondary defender, Lead's call all the way. Slot doesn't whistle, we can't blarge.

Play 2: Charge. Lead's play all day, Trail should not have a whistle here.

Can I ask why you refer to the official as a "slot" when HS and NCAA refer to it as a "center?"

Probably the same reason I do, it's one syllable.

...

Crash occurs in the Slot's primary, he can have a whistle on this, but cede to the Lead.

Play #1: Charge. Defender established legal guarding position before shooter became airborne.

Play #2: Charge.

griblets Fri Jan 05, 2018 08:26am

Play 3: Charge. Defender establishes LGP outside the RA. Contact in the torso.
He's allowed to lean backward. That's two very tough calls against #20 (see play #1).

Play 4: Would have had nothing real time. Slo-mo shows return to floor before release. Travel.

Play 5: Contact elbow to elbow. Foul.

Many use it because it's an NBA term, and, thus, "cooler." (I am not saying that's why those in this thread do so.

Plays one and two are both charges. I also have no problems with the double whistles here.

I have block (or no call) on three -- I think the defender moved left after the shooter was in the air / or stuck out his left arm and that caused most of the contact / foul

Four was a travel because it was 1/2 a travel on the first move and 1/2 on the second. ;)

five is a foul

deecee Fri Jan 05, 2018 08:35am

1. block
2. charge
3. ideally a NC - the defender has his arms out and that's where most the of the contact, if any occur. But definetly not a PC.
4. I dont have anything
5. foul

Smitty Fri Jan 05, 2018 09:12am

1. Charge - he is in LGP before the offensive player leaves the floor
2. Charge
3. Block - appears to be moving to the left while player is in the air
4. NC
5. Foul - hits the elbow before the block

Interesting. Those who said play 1 was a charge defended it. A few who said it was a block...didn’t. Why is that?

Agree an all and for the same reasons.

#5....no travel because the pivot foot never came up. So there was no foot to come down.
