I've worked in the Southwest part of the state and Northern VA.

Around Roanoke (2015):
Varsity 3-man: $87
JV 2-Man: $65
MS 3-Man: $65

NoVA (Current):
Varsity 3-man: $91 is the highest for private schools, $72-$85 for public
Varsity 2-man: $75
JV 2-man: $65 average

Note that there is another association in Nothern VA, so their rates may differ. I'd say the average is somewhere around $75.

I can't speak for PA--it's a big state!--but in the two SE PA (in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia) leagues I work, I get $60 and $66 for 2-ref jv games, so your PA figures are low. Although I am not certain, but I think that varsity refs, working 3-ref, get $72 and $75. No mileage.

CA is by Section, of which there are 13. The largest is the Sac-Joaquin Section which covers Sacramento.

Sac-Joaquin Section fees this year are:
V3 = $52.66 (3-way split of the 2-person fee, only used in a few tournaments during the regular season)

V2 = $79
SV3 = not used
SV2 = $57

No travel fee in this Section.

Wyoming is $60 for all V and negotiated for JV, but generally $55 2 or 3.

FWIW we get paid 1 mileage for the crew at IRS rate, round trip. (crews decide how to split, if not all to driver) and 4 cents per mile RT per diem/per official.

Most, not all, contracts are double headers, GV and BV. Some small schools are 4 games with JV included, mostly because they don't have local officials.

Some of my games this year will be as far as 380 miles RT. The closest game is 90 miles RT.

Illinois does not have one fee other than playoffs. All areas and conferences have their own standards of payment which can range from private school conferences or different parts of the state. There is no one type of payment.

What's the rate for first round of playoffs? Best guess at average game fees that you have seen from the conferences and schools you have been to?

In Indiana it breaks down as follows:

V3 - 75-80, no milage
V2 - not used
SV2 - 60 - 65
SV3 - used very little

V3 Tournament - 75-80, plus milage

I'm curious where you got your numbers. For Iowa, it varies in the big class (4A) depending on conference. In the Des Moines metro, the 4A conference (CIML) pays $115 for V doubleheader. I've heard on the east side of the state (MVC and MAC) it's closer to $135. No mileage reimbursement until tourney time, then the fees go down and the mileage pay goes up.

Twin Cities (MN) metro area:

Single Varsity (3-person): $81-84
Single Non-varsity (2-person): $58-60

Varsity/JV doubleheader (usually 3-person, although sometimes we have 2 for the JV and a 3rd joining us for the varsity): $111-116.

Varsity doubleheaders are $150ish, I think... I've never worked one, and they don't happen often.

We do not get paid mileage, except for playoffs. For playoff games, we get one mileage allowance for the entire crew. I'm not exactly sure what the per-mile rate is, since I never received it (all of my playoff games last spring were within 10 miles of my house, so I gave the mileage to my partners).

In the Southern part of Indiana, varsity is anywhere from $65 to $75 for varsity. It is all 3 person.
JV is all 2 person and pays anywhere from $50 to $65 per contest.
I am told the northern part of the state is pretty close to that also.

It's even more complicated than that. The North Coast Section allows each official's association to negotiate their own fees so my old association has negotiated fees that will be different from another association's.

In Ohio, the rates vary by a fairly significant amount:
Tournament First Round: $80 $1/mile over 50 miles one way
Varsity Rates (All 3 Person): $60 - $72
JV Rates (2 Person): $40 - $55
JV Rates (3 Person): $40 - $50
FR Rates (2 Person): $35 - $45
FR Rates (3 Person): $35 - $42

Some leagues use 3 person for FR+JV DH in Central Ohio and the current pay is $79 ($42 + $37). Central Ohio rates increased from $60 to $68 at the varsity level last year.

We are NOT paid for mileage during the regular season.

As a parent, I see these states that always use 3 man for varsity and I'm jealous. While my son's league uses three, the HS tournaments he plays in So Cal use 2. It's frustrating on some calls to have a better angle than the refs and know why they missed a call.

I believe the Southern Section playoffs use only two refs until the semis (and I'm curious how those refs get selected, as I have not been impressed, but that's a different issue....).

Northern VA rates are $86 for varsity (3-person); $71 for sub-varsity (2-person).
