Switch on OOB

Trail is table side and balls goes out of bounds above the FT line on the sideline opposite the table.

Does the trail go across court and remain as trail? or does the Lead come up become new trail and old trail switches to new lead?

Two Person mechanics...

Thanks!

NFHS mechanics have the Lead come up and become the Trail in the frontcourt. The old Trail would slide down his sideline and take the Lead position while remaining tableside.

This is shown in diagram 4-10 on page 37 of the current NFHS basketball officials manual.

For IAABO members only: Opposite sideline above free throw line extended is trail's responsibility (it's in the trails primary coverage area) in two person mechanics (this was a controversial change several years ago, some IAABO veterans still struggle with this new mechanic, it's covered in almost every pregame among veterans). So the trail makes the out of bounds call and moves across the court to remain as trail and administer the throwin, and the lead moves across the lane and stays the lead.

As usual, check your local listings.
