Color wars

OKC wearing their orange uniforms. They just called a timeout and the administrating official called them "red".

Here in Connecticut, that's what we're taught to do in our high school games (only one syllable colors). I'm surprised that the NBA isn't more liberal in their color designations.

Orange is one syllable, at least the way I say it.

It will be a cold day in hell before I say "purple", however.

When I used to officiate H.S. futbol, we used the actual color because futbol officials were smarter that basketball officials and could pronounce multi-sylable words, :p.

As I would do and have done for years. Not saying "orange." But then again the NBA has a lot of professionals doing their jobs and being paid, so I can certain certainly understand.

Peace

I'm not disagreeing. I say red when orange is being worn. Just found it interesting.

I've never heard it done differently in a game I've worked in or attended.

The difference in football is that no one can hear you. :D

The NBA trained referees in my house tell me they have no compunction against using purple or orange. It is a matter of credibility and consistency within their circle.

I'm not taking a side either way. But I will admit I chuckle inside when one camp clinician says do it this way, and then you make the adjustment and after your very next game the next clinician says, "Why do you do it that way?"

I guess if this is the worst critique they can come up with, I had a pretty good game. [emoji16]

This is truly one of the dumber things basketball officials obsess over.
