Block/Charge How do you see the secondary defender on this play?

Curious to see how you view this play. I feel PC, and also should have been C's whistle, curious to your input.

Same as the other play you posted.
Should have been a PC foul and this is now the Lead's call.
Five years ago this was the C's call, but the mechanics have changed.
The reason for the change is that the C cannot watch both the drive with any defenders near the dribbler AND find the help-defender stepping in front attempting to draw the charge. The C simply cannot know if the defender obtained position in time while striving to observe several aspects of the drive such as bumps/handchecking/traveling. Therefore, the mechanics have now shifted responsibility of the help-defender to the Lead.

True, but let's make the point that it isn't because of where the help-defender started or the crash happened, but rather because there is much more happening on-ball for the C to watch in this play.

I can see this play as L's call, double whistle no problem with C taking it to table either. Other play I do think C needed whistle for sure, double whistle L definitely yields to C.

This IS NOT the C's call in any league in the country....

Please don't have a whistle from the C with BNR, Rut or myself. You need to trust the system. Lead will close down to the lane line or one step in the paint....He will watch the SECONDARY DEFENDER and his movements....

From the C you cant watch the primary defenders and then be able to tell if the secondary defender got there and if that was an NCAA play were his feet outside the arc..

If you dont believe me ( us ) go to a D1 camp and have a double on that play....

IMO, looks PC all day long. I can't figure out why C was nodding in apparent agreement. That tells me they both thought it was a block.

I am going do disagree a little bit on this one. I have no issues with the C getting this play. For one they might see the entire thing better than the L. And since the L got this wrong IMO, the C has an opportunity with a play on his side to make this call. Double whistle is certainly understandable, but saying the L is the only one can call this is also why I feel this was wrong. I would have no problem with a good official that is C making this call if I am the lead. We just might make eye contact first, but this is why I am not a fan of the L having this basically on the other side of the lane. They get surprised too often.

And this looks like a HS game. So that might apply more in a college setting, but even in a college setting we talk about these plays and often we want the C to still officiate this play. But the L is the only one to come out strong, but the C can and might be the best person to call this.
