.5 Playoff Winner

This was from Indiana HS tourney...small school sectional game.

Unbelievable full-court shot wins sectional game for Central Christian Academy - 13 WTHR Indianapolis

I think it was .5 on the clock. I thought you had to have .7 for a try and .3 for a tap? At any rate, what a finish.

It was 0.5 on the clock. No, the shot was not caught and released in 0.5 seconds. Some guy on the internet made the calculation and estimated the catch and release at 0.766 seconds.

I think this definitely falls within acceptable reaction time from the timer. No monitor, no other definite knowledge to say the shot should not have been good.

And no, 0.4 is all you need for a catch and shoot. 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 can only tap.

Where did you get .7? Re-read the rule on that one: there's no minimum time required for a tap.

I thought somewhere in the past that was in a rule book?

Nope. The only rule about time (in this context) is that with .3 or less there can only be a tap. Any catch will result in time expiring by rule (NFHS). That's the only rule there is, and as far as I'm aware, that's the only rule that's ever been there (except for the time when there was no special rule for that scenario).
