Double TF sitch NFHS

Suppose you have a garden variety taunting TF where the tauntee responds with a punch which is deemed flagrant.
Is the resolution still POI or does the more serious flagrant foul warrant FTs?

Rules reference(s), please.

TIA

I'm tossing both and calling it a double.

Agree. By rules, any unsporting act that triggers a fight is itself deemed to be fighting.

Thanks, guys. Just comparing different rules sets with my 2 resident NBA rules gurus.

FWIW, in NBA, refs have discretion to apply different penalties that don't necessarily offset. IOW, more serious of the double fouls could still result in FTs, and possible ejection for the major malefactor.

At least once upon a time, NBA rules also permitted an ejected player to shoot his free throws before leaving the court.

Depending upon the time lag, it is also possible to assess each player a flagrant technical foul and enforce the penalties in the order of occurrence.

2FTs at one end, 2FTs at the other end and possession of the ball.

Agreed, but it would need to be a significant time lag, I think. It would be a short window from when enough time had lapsed and I'd already reported the first TF. Once I've reported the first TF, I'm not upgrading it just because the opponent decided to respond.
