Association Board

Debating running for Board of our local association. For those of you that have done so:
What were you hoping to accomplish by serving on the Board / What made you run?
Did you feel like you were successful meeting those goals?
What were the biggest challenges you found once elected?
Would you do it again?

I have been on several boards and currently on the Executive Board of one of my association. Been President of a division for Basketball as well in the past and on a current Basketball Division committee.

All I can say is that it is usually good to be one of the people at the table to make a decision. I like having say over how we spend money or what direction our meetings go. Not really any personal goals I have tried to accomplish as usually we discuss things like what the topics of the meetings are or who is going to speak at those meetings. The format is relatively set and all we do is fill in the blanks most of the time. And I am in the second year of a 3 year for the second time. I will likely run again as long as they will have me. It is some work, but mostly rewarding that you got to give your opinion about the direction of the organization.

Peace
