Duke/UNC 2nd half BI call (1:55)
Thoughts? I know what I think but I'm a Duke fan.
Honestly though, looked like a missed dunk. Nothing more. I understand he popped the rim and ball was in cylinder with rim moving but that was due the initial dunk attempt. Am I missing something? |

I might be wrong, but I like it. You can see the velocity with which the ball bounces back to the backboard after hitting the rim. This is caused by the rim snapping back and hitting the ball which tells me we have a problem.

This to me is obviously a violation. If he hangs on the rim just a little longer, the ball goes through the basket. He releases the ball and it hits the rim when it bounces back, that has been the rule for some time. Very good call.
Peace

I agree it's the right call. Made me look at NCAAM rule again about grabbing rim T. Only if "excessive" I think rule says. High school just grabbing it without threat of injury can be a T. I think I have this right.
