Saw a poor quality video from ESPN with the shooter blocking out a good look at what the defender did. I think the shot probably got off cleanly. But *IF* there is contact there, it *HAS* to be called. That said, L was out wide to have a second opinion, so if two officials passed on this, it was probably a good no call.
Two, maybe three years ago in a 7-10 men's tournament game involving Iowa State (close game, down to the wire), a foul on a three from the corner at the buzzer was not called. Should have been. I think as officials, in an effort to be 100% certain on game impacting calls, we sometimes choke. Being human is hard! |

I think as officials we can lose sight that a non-call affects the game just as much as a call. (Though I believe that there are studies that show people feel more aggrieved by a bad call than a bad no-call.)
