What a trip to a game tonight!

Mark, Jr., and boys' VAR game tonight and I was his chauffeur and valet.

We were southbound on I-475 in Toledo just north of Exit 8 when a southbound minivan traveling at a very high rate of speed swerved to pass us on our left hand side. The driver lost control, swerved into the median strip, struck the guardrail and went airborne. The minivan twisted in the air and the roof struck the northernmost column of the center set of bridge columns. The roof was completely crushed down upon the body of the minivan.

We pulled off to the right side of the highway, While I called 911, Mark got out the minivan to see if he could get the driver out of the van before it might catch fire. He got to the van at the same time as another driver from a car behind us did. The other driver jumped up onto the drive train and was able to look into the car. He told Mark that the driver was dead. Not even 10 minutes later the first OSHP showed up. We made our statement to the OSHP and then continued onto Mark's game.

This accident was the first of its type for me. What a way to start a trip to a game.

Prayers to the family of the driver and to all who witnessed it. What a terrible thing to happen.

What a story. I missed my first Varsity game as they shut down the interstate to make it safer during a snow storm. Left hours ahead of time. Got within 15 miles of 120 mile trip. Yet to witness your accident. Wow just wow.

Wow! Glad you and your son were not collected in that, Mark.

I witnessed a young kid driving his parents 7-series BMW run a red light and T-bone a lady in a Honda Accord...I was waiting in the turn lane going the opposite direction of the BMW....both survived but that sound of metal on metal crunching was something I won't ever forget.
