NBA Refs' Questions

Just curious:

1. Does NBRA or the league get the NBA refs together before every pre-season for a camp/clinic/conf.?

2. If so, how do they do that?

3. What contents are included at the camp/clinic/conf.? e.g. rules/criteria/POE (point of emphasis)

4. DOes NBA make the POE every single season?

5. How are the POE sent/delivered to each team and make sure they are aware of the stuff?

6. What makes NBA official so strong in executing/enforcing these rule changes/criteria/POE?

Being an NBA official is a full time job, and the NBA is a business run like any other. That should answer all your questions.

1. The NBA has a preseason clinic/get together every year

2. How? Come or be fired? Maybe I'm missing something here?

3. Camp will go over new rules, poe's, etc

4. Yes they have POE's for every year. They even have in season POE's

5. Each team is sent the POE's....before the season probably via referees that officiate scrimmages and preseason...and also via email. During the season, email

6. Fewer officials, more oversight, more power over what happens if they don't address POE's (employees vs independent contractors)

Nbra???

NBRA is the union that represents the officials in collective bargaining and other employment related issues. They have zero to do with training, rules, POEs or interpretations.

True, but the question asked "Does the NBRA or the league ..."

OP imputed that the union was involved in referee operations. My response was to reaffirm they are not part of the scenario described.
