I acutally watched the game.....

Not a particularly well played game overall IMO, but someone had to win! ;)

Congrats to you and Cleveland!

Now, about DC sports......

It was a very well officiated game. Probably the best of the series.

Wait a minute there, sir! As a good son who is still thinking of his dad, it's my opinion that the Cubbies should be next. :)

Go Cardinals!!

Ah, but you're thinking is too narrow - one sport.

Chicago had the Bulls, Bears, and Black Hawks win championships in recent times.

Cleveland has all four major sports covered, as does DC, and they are now off the list of, "What have you done for me lately?"

We need something big to cheer about here OTHER than the Metro not being under repair or breaking down and who's the next lucky winner of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave! :(

Come on grune, you have the grandest sporting event of all in DC, politics! :D

Yeah but no one ever truly wins in politics; everyone loses.

Baseball, basketball, football, and ???

The Lake Erie Monsters are AHL. They also won the Calder Cup on June 11. But I really don't think they count.

Also, the Orioles have won three World Series and the Ravens won two Super Bowls in the last 52 years. That's "close enough" to DC, right?

Cry Me A River ...

How about Connecticut as the major league professional sports desert of the world?

All we've got are the Connecticut Sun (WNBA), the Traveler's Championship (PGA), and the Connecticut Open (WTA).

Hartford (arguably the center of the state) is within a 2.5 hour drive of 3 MLB, 3 NFL, 3 NBA and 4 NHL teams. Those teams have won at least 43 world champsionships since 1964.

But we still miss our Whalers.
