End of game. Houston vs Dallas

Last seconds of the game, the ball is heading out of bounds. It appears the player strikes the ball with his fist. If so, would this be a violation?

It is a violation to strike the ball with a fist under NBA rules.

I know it's a violation for NFHS. I was referencing a NBA game. Sometimes their rules are different. Can a video be posted of this play? Or is it too late? As I said, it appears he struck the ball with a fist. The ball was hit with such a force. Or did the player control the ball an throw it?

Q4 00:01.0 Turnover: Punched Ball Wesley Matthews

Comment: [Incidental or immaterial] Matthews (DAL) knocks the ball away down the sideline. Video resolution is not clear enough to determine if he hits the ball with an open or closed hand, or if the ball hits his forearm or hand.

I watched it live and remember thinking I couldn't imagine how many fouls could be called on that play.
