SFA vs. ND (3/20)

SFA vs. ND (Round 2). Sequence leading up to the 4:07 mark 1st half on a SFA possession.

L makes what I thought was an outstanding illegal screen call on SFA #3. He excellently anticipated the alley-oop play that SFA was setting up, and saw how the subtle screening action in the middle of the paint allowed the pass receiver some room to move in for the would-be dunk. He read players' eyes. Probably a call he wouldn't normally make, but he figured out the context of the call and made it boldly. Well done. I hope we can get this posted.

what was interesting about this is that it happens on nearly every alley oop play, and it's very rarely called. The screener is almost always coming into contact from behind the defender, and moving him a step to boot. yet it is ignored most of the time. obvious call.

I miss the first one, then I wake up and aware of the next attempt on this play and wisely pick up the screening action, ignoring the dunker, but will pick him up late to see if he gets pushed before the dunk attempt (free throw purposes)

The blind aspect of the screen makes this good get by the official. I wonder if it gets gotten ever in 2 man . . .

I can't speak for other parts of Rome but if that amount of pushing on screens by littles on a little big screen was enough to get a foul, round these parts there would be no screens that weren't called illegal.

It wasn't only blind, the blue player was moving into the white player.
