West Virginia/Kansas Lane Violation

Would like to get another look at the lane violation called at 5:20 in the first half. Particularly curious if the proper official made the call under NCAAM mechanics.

It looked weird live and I rewound it several times. I agree he stepped over his lane line with his left foot, but seemed official pointed emphatically at right foot.

JRutledge Sat Mar 12, 2016 07:18pm

Well he has that side of the lane as the C. I have no issues with the violation or the call. He is telling everyone he has a violation on the offensive player.

BTW, video is coming so we can discuss visually.

Peace

I see the play, I am waiting for the video discussion:p

I think he is just being emphatic on call he has which I think is correctly a violation.

BlueDevilRef Sat Mar 12, 2016 08:41pm

I agree it was correct. Just looks like he crossed with left foot first. Maybe Sirmons saw other the right foot first. But I think if was a good call

This was a violation, but would be the L's call in NFHS. Are NCAAM mechanics different for this?

No, but I have no problem with him making this call. It looked pretty obvious that there was a violation here from his point of view.

Peace

At the NCAA level the L and C have responsibility for the violations committed by players on the OPPOSITE side of the FT lane. This may have been a correct call, but it came from the wrong official.
