Jamie Luckie and the court sweepers
At 18:21 in the first half of the Wake-NC State game, Jamie Luckie held up play to make two young court sweepers go sit somewhere else.
Wonder what that was all about or if anyone saw it live. ![]() |

I am going to defend Jamie Luckie on this one. We do not know what was said or we do not know what his history with injury might be. These kids are clearly in a place they are not supposed to be. It is possible they talked back to him when trying to deal with the issue directly. There could be a lot to this situation and I have no issues with him. If a player had gone into those kids we would have had a different discussion, especially if someone got hurt. If you look at where the cameras are, they are behind a little blue line. These kids were in front of that line.
Well here you go anyway. ![]() Peace

He almost stepped on them. He asked them to move. Like many teens, they wiggled a little but didn't really move. So, he had to make it clear.

The contempt and commentary from the announcers was pretty rude. Noting that "Luckie was inserting himself into the action" and "Jamie has a way of getting involved early and often...". Don't know who they were but it didn't help matters any. I think the female was Doris Burke?

Luckie did the right thing taking care of it then rather than have to worry about it as the lead on the next possession. |

Many times in younger games, younger kids are under the goal or moving around on the sideline during game. I've seen an official from time to time have a near collision as the court OOB lines are so close. I think he was thinking about something along those lines.
