traveling?

offensive player has ball and picks up his dribble.

defender swipes at the ball and knocks it loose. ball does not hit the floor. offensive player gathers loose ball and dribbles

This seems like a trap question, but I will play along. Can you define "knocks it loose?" And is your intent to discuss traveling or a double dribble?

No violation.

I guess the question in general is can the offensive player grab the ball and dribble without it being any violation. The ball is clearly knocked from his hands but does not hit the ground.

The offensive player then re-establishes his dribble and continues play

A1 is dribbling the Ball and then stops his dribble by holding the ball with both hands; during all of this time A1 has PC of the Ball. B1 then knocks the Ball out of A1's hands. A1 does not have PC of the Ball, therefore, A1 can recover the ball and start a new dribble.

When a player loses control of the ball due to contact by another player they can always start a new dribble. Whether it hits the ground or not is irrelevant.
