Front court status

ART. 6 (4-4-6)

During a dribble from backcourt to frontcourt, the ball is in the frontcourt when the ball and both feet of the dribbler TOUCH the court entirely in the frontcourt.

I was thinking if both feet are in front court and the ball has broken the division plane and is in control then clearly that would set up front court status. If the ball hasn't touched the front court does this mean they could toss it back to someone in the back court without a violation?

I see the dribbling part. Im a few fries short of a happy meal. Please delete this post.

It doesn't. Forget about the division plane....it has nothing to do with anything at the NFHS or NCAA level. FC/BC status is all about where things touch. For a dribbler, all 3 points must actually touch the floor in the frontcourt for the ball to be considered to be in the frontcourt.

No...because the ball would gain FC status as the dribbler ends the dribble to toss it back to someone else.

They could, however, continue to dribble the ball in the backcourt, and even step back into the backcourt....all while the 10 second count continues.

Just remember, the "division plane" means nothing. Ever.
