Pants Fit

Has anyone been able to find a pair of pants that they are happy with? I ordered the new Smitty flat fronts with the normal, vertical pockets (BKS-277 I think) and they have an extremely long rise. This results in the waist coming up 2+ inches higher than comfortable.

Anyone else have the same experience or been able to get the pants altered successfully? It seems like the alteration would be complex if I had to go that route. Thanks in advance.

This is definitely a personal preference kind of topic, but that won't prevent me from recommending Sansabelt as I've always liked the way they fit and appear.

Thanks for the link. I tried to order some of the flat front with low rise option, but they called and told me they were on back-order. I ordered instead a black pair in the Wool Blend fabric with low-rise and they should be in in a few days.

I agree that most pant issues are personal preference, but there has to be a manufacturer that doesn't make the rise so long.

I was also informed on the phone by Milbern that they have begun making their own, identical line with multiple rise lengths and different fabrics. Might be worth just calling in if anyone is interested since their site is so bad and out of date.

I'm looking as well and have always worn Sansabelt but having difficulty finding them. Any pointers to vendor is greatly appreciated

Thanks :D

JC:

Just one question. Why do you want the flat panel western cut style pants when just about everybody has gone to pleated pants within the last ten years?

Bear:

I checked out the website out of curiosity and the last time I wore navy blue pants to officiate a basketball game was when we were still wearing blue and white striped shirts with a navy blue Bryon collar, and white shoes for women's college games. And we had our choice of wearing navy blue pants, shorts, skirts, or culottes. I preferred the culottes myself, :p.

volleyball referees wear navy.

I'm pretty sure any (U.S.) basketball official would figure out to order black.

I don't know about MichiganHSAA but OhioHSAA volleyball officials wear black pants.

But I was reliving my early college officiating career and wearing culottes. :D

I like the new Smitty premium pants... They are a bit shinier than others but they are lighter and wick moisture well. I'm an irregular fit- 6 feet tall, 35 waist but only a 30 inch inseam with tree trunk thighs ( legs are my favourite thing to work at the gym) and after I get them hemmed, they fit nicely.

So I got them in the other day and they are a much better fit (ie fit at a normal dress pant height). They are thinner than the old Smitty's I have, which I'm not sure if that's good or bad at this point.

The original pants I ordered were not western cut style, they were normal, flat-front with vertical pockets on the side. I actually don't like the western style with the pockets sitting on the front. And pleated pants are horrible IMO. They can look OK on certain body types, but overall, men's style has moved away from pleated pants and for the better.
