Mid-American Umpire Clinic Registration

There are still a few spots available for the Mid-American Umpire Clinic, Sept. 4-7 in Springfield, Missouri. We have waived the late registration fee, so tuition is only $200.00. Past/present members of our armed forces receive $20 off registration.

Act fast before the clinic is sold out again this year!

MTD, Jr., is interested in this camp because he has an interest in moving up to the college ranks someday. I would be interested in hearing from people from the Ohio-Michigan-Indiana area who have attended this camp.

I assume that one will improve his umpiring skills from attending this camp or just about any camp for that matter and that should always be the prime motivator for attending such a camp, but my interest is in whether one can get a foot in the door from attending this camp assuming that one shows the ability and skill to start to advance to the college level.

Thanks in advance.

MTD, Sr.

I'll be happy to answer any questions you have concerning the clinic.

Over the years we've had several attend from the Ohio/Indiana area. One went on to finish #1 at Wendelstedt's. Almost all of them have been hired in college conferences based on what they've learned at our clinic.

For future reference (for my son's benefit), what would be the suggested minimum age and experience level to attend a clinic of this type. He is a High School player/student currently and would like to umpire at a high level later in life. At what age should he be doing things like this?

We will technically take anyone at any age (with parental release) but ideally, a HS graduate.

Depending on what his umpiring goals are, the pro schools/PBUC look more favorably upon someone with a college degree. That's not to say they wouldn't advance someone without a degree, but the likelihood of someone moving through MiLB to MLB is pretty slim so they like to know that umpires have something to fall back on career wise.
