TCU-Sam Houston St bottom of 21st inning

In the NCAA regional game tonight Sam Houston St thought they had won the game when the Horned Frogs failed to turn a double play. But the 2nd base umpire called interference and as a result the double play was called automaticaly and the innnig ended. No video yet as the game is still going on as this is posted.

Just saw it. That was a legal slide.

I don't see a "leg and buttock" on the ground before the base.

It's a perfect example of one of the actions the FPSR is intended to penalize. A great ballsy call. It was the second of the game against SHSU. Anyone see the first one?

Took balls of steel to make the call. Those are the guys I want to work with...not politician umpires...not seeking an approval rating. Not injecting himself into the game. Just doing his job.

I guess they didn't have anyone calling that during the regular season. Hope the coach goes off on his regular season umpires instead of, too late, he already went off on the guys who knew what they were doing. Anybody know how to pass the NCAA tests without knowing the rules.

Gotta say that U2 being outside (infield was in with the bases loaded) gave him the absolute best view of this slide.

Sometimes you have to be good AND lucky. :)

Here's a site with a couple of GIFs of the play. Sorry, I don't know how to embed them here.

Be able to look in a rulebook and pass an open book test. I am not an NCAA Baseball umpire, but do work another sport. Our test is open book with no practical observations done.
