NFHS Rules: Deliberately throw a bat or remove a helmet.

I have read the rules references but MTD, Jr., and I are not sure if the infractions are a Delayed Dead Ball or an Immediate Dead Ball.

Two plays:

Play 1: With R1 on 1B and one out, B2 hits a shallow pop up to F4. B2 in disgust for popping up, throws his bat against the fence and begins to slowly jog towards first base. F4 gets under the popup in plenty of time as R1 gets only two steps off 1B, expecting the routine catch. At the last second, F4 lets the popup fall to the ground untouched and immediately picks it up and throws to F6 AT 2B to force out R1. F6 then throws to F3 and B2 is called out on a very close play at 1B.

B2 is ejected by rule but when is he ejected? After playing action or immediately.

Play 2: R1 on 3B with one out in the bottom of the 7th inning of a tie ball game. B3 hits a clean single into RF. R1 races home but 15 feet from HP he throws his batting helmet into the air. The Home team had previously received a warning per removing a batting helmet.

R1 is ejected by rule but when is he ejected? After playing action or immediately.

Delayed.

Ejections happen at the end of playing action and unless it's for MC, the play is allowed to continue.

Thanks Bob. That is what Mark, Jr., and I thought but wanted to run it by others. Have a warm weekend.

NFHS 5-1-2e
It is a delayed dead ball when anyone who is required to wear a batting helmet deliberately removes his helmet, while the ball is in live-ball territory and the ball is live.
Penalty (from chart) : Team warning. Subsequent players on that team who violate rule are ejected.

The rationale for the delay is to permit the defense to play on other runners and perhaps to record additional outs, which stand.
