We wear navy, powder, red, or white shirts during summer ball here. In the Northwoods league, the umpires sometimes wear forest green shirts, which look GREAT. Does anyone know if these are available somewhere to purchase? I've checked most of the usual suspects, Official's Choice, +POS, Gerry Davis, etc...Honig's website says they may be available within the next couple of years...

Green is a Softball color

Green shirts are worn by the I/S/A softball umpires, both slow and fast pitch.

The only uniform difference is the hat, which has different identification for fast or slow.

Down here in sunny Florida, the light blues are usually for the daytime games, Navy for night, and we very seldom see the Red ones used. Again, as stated, Green for softball.

HOHOHO Jim.. Actually didn't Pete Rose comment about the umpires wearing green when he went to Yankee Stadium for a game last year?? I was like no way on green but I did not see the umps for that game so nbot sure what they wore. I have not see green on any MLB blues since so I took it Rose was color blind. Probably how he managed to bet on the Reds. He said I'll take the green team.

No to be a smart a$$ but you mean to tell me you guys wear navy blue at night during the summer. In Brevard Co. powder blue or red is the color during the summer, morning, afternoon, and evening.

i emailed +POS about 3 weeks ago and they had it on the site but its not available till next year. i was going to order it because it has the black stripe inside the 2 white stripes on the trim that the Honigs ones dont have(even though they supply the MLB). they said it was on the site by mistake.

+POS should have them for next season.

...And no white shoes after labor Day. ;)

For me the uniform depends on what association and what sport I'm umpiring under - there are four total, so it depends.

Great Lakes Officials Assoc. requires the red micromesh, and I wear that. Softball only.

Illinois High School Assoc. requires navy blue micromesh for baseball, and powder blue micromesh for softball.

Deerfield Youth Baseball, my boys, doesn't officially have a uniform requirement, but I'm establishing that IHSA-qualified umpires will umpire at least in quasi-IHSA uniforms. For me, it's a blue-button down with IHSA and American Flag patches.
