Batting Order?

If a player is in the scorebook and is not available when it is his turn to bat, when is that player out?

It depends on the situation, the rules you're playing under?

What happened?

Little League...

Player was listed in the book as the No. 6 batter and batter No. 5 struck out...

If you are using continuous batting then you just skip the spot without penalty.

If you are batting 9 then put in a sub for him.

If you don't have a sub then you only have 8 players then the game stops due to not having 9 players.

There's no automatic out for an empty spot in LL rules.

And where was 6? Injured? Ejected? In the bathroom? On the bench but didn't want to bat?

Hey Blue,

At any level in baseball the batter has 10 seconds to be in the batters box.....if you determine the need you start calling strikes....reloading a fresh 10 seconds until you have an out if that is really go to happen it would be a first....

Remember.....judgment is more important than being a letter of the law type of umpire....

Hogwash! Horse Hockey! Bull Crap!

Three strikes - you're outahere.

Doesn't matter in LL. I posted the options for a LL rules game. You can't get an out for it.

This is the solution if the player simply refuses to come bat ... or perhaps is too injured to bat but not too injured to field (whatever that might entail) - and the team only has exactly 9 players.

His question matters though. Ejected (and not below 9 players) - you skip him. Injured (and not below 9 players) - you skip him. On potty break? I think the 3-pitch solution more appropriate.

Can't recall if it applies to regular season or just tournament but if injured/ejected and illegal subs are available the other team gets to pick one to replace the injured/ejected player.

True.

Potty break - put in a sub.

No sub - suspend the game and refer it to the BoD (there is no forfeit for less than 9 players in LL rules).

Or stop being a redass and wait.

You cannot get an out from it - period.
