I am just a fan, so I am turning here to see what you professionals think. In the top of the 4th, it appeared to me that the UCLA batter should have been called out for running outside of the 45 foot lane on the play where he collided with the MSU 1st baseman.

What are your thoughts?

Yes, the runner was outside the running lane, however the rule requires the throw to be a good throw before interference can be called. It was not, so it was not. :D

F3 had already botched the catch before the runner got there - the runner didn't cause the poor throw or hinder the botched attempt to catch it.

The runner broke what most fans and coaches think the rule is...

But he did not break the actual rule. No call.

It wasn't a botched catch, it was a botched throw by F2. But there were no infraction of the rules by the B/R.
