Oops who caught the ball?

Watching ESPN and seeing the play at first with Tx and Seattle that the F1 going to cover at first caught the ball instead of F3 etc, Crazy play but the BU called runner out, then the manager went out to argue about a pulled foot and he didn't see that F3 never caught the ball - have to admit it is hilarious.

Don't know why none of the other umpires didn't see it either ...

Thanks

Also, watch F1's foot.... even if he did catch the ball, he was clearly off the bag.

The article said it was originally scored 3-6-3, but was later revised to 3-6-1.

No, Moreland CLEARLY did not come off the bag until AFTER he failed to catch the ball.

And there was no umpire discussion? I guess the Mariner's manager was just too timid.

He didn't know that's what happened either.

I think this was such an unusual play that no one would have thought this is actually what happened unless they saw the tape. That is why everything stood it appears.

Peace

Well, I'm a little surprised, especially given that after F1 caught the ball, he looked over to check the runner at third, pulling the ball out of the glove in the process. You would think that one of the four umpires should have seen that, particularly the PU, who would be looking that way anyway for a pulled foot.

Well not all umpires are watching this play in the first place. And again how many times in your career have to seen two players at the base at the same time try to catch the same ball? I have never seen anything like this play and why I can understand. And it was so unusual that even the opposing umpire had no clue about who caught the ball but apparently was arguing if the foot was off the bag. And the PU might not have had an angle on who caught the ball considering where the pitcher was standing that actually caught the ball. Not saying it is acceptable, just saying I understand why it was missed. It think they could have taken a second to see who caught the ball.

Peace

Brewers vs Orioles - Deja Vous? Not so much!

O's Chris Davis hits a weak ground ball toward first, Smoak (1B) moves for the ball, Harang (P) and Franklin (2B) converge to cover first, and Smoak flips the ball toward both players covering the bag......this time, the 1B ump (Larry Vanover) pauses just a sec to make sure the guy ON the bag has the ball. Harang shows it to him. OUT!

I had a flashback for a sec. :p

I'm guessing Vanover and all the others got the memo after the May 24 game. :D
