The D.C. Court of Appeals affirmed Ed Hickox's victory over Wilson due to injuries sustained from a foul ball off the mask. Read the opinion here.

Appellate-speak usually isn't so bad.

Two of the three judges hearing this case were appointed by G. W. Bush, and the third by Obama — after clerking for Scalia. Go figure...

According to the court document, Ed got $750K and his wife got $25K. That's about 5 year's salary for him, but after the lawyer's cut he'll be lucky to get half. Better than nothing at all, but still not good.

Yes IF Wilson knew how big a risk they were taking using Ed as a guinea pig to test their mask. That half-mil is probably what he would have earned umping in that time, so there's really nothing for damages.
