Can't Wait for the Umpires to Screw One Up Tonight

Not that I'm sure they will... I just need something other than a 2 week old jump-turn-jab-step-neither conversation and a flukey broken bat hitting the ball conversation. I have tired head from these 2.

You could revive the IFF thread. :D

We could loan you a couple off topic threads from the basketball side.

That is too funny.

Peace

I will even give the umpires a point for the Barry Manilow comment. Umpires 1- Buck (-1).

I enjoyed the sounds of the game where you could hear Buster Posey thwack the runner before he threw down to second for a double play.

Was anyone else nervous that when they played the audio Gerry was going to say something other than out? ;)

I thought the positioning and call by Dan Iassogna on Prince Fielder trying to score was outstanding. For anyone who questions the need to be 3BL extended, this was a perfect example. At first I thought he was too close to the play but apparently not. He nailed it!

That is an outstanding call. Great mechanics and timing. And I am saying this as a Tiger fan. I did not see the game live (as I was at another meeting) but when I saw the replay at first I had confidence in the call being right. Great call once again.

Peace

Agree. There was a banger at 1B as well that Cubreth nailed. There was also a pick off call at 2B that was correct as well...very, very close call that was also correct.

The umpires were outstanding last night. Unfortunately, that doesn't merit 1/10 of the media attention that missed call does.

3BL extended and he kept adjusting his position as the play developed. Textbook example of how to do it the right way.
Flat out great umpiring by Iassogna.

Tigers manager Jim Leyland, said, "[Iassogna] made an absolute terrific call in a big, tough situation, a tough call and he made a great call."

Nuff said!
