Guys Watch Yourselves
Umpires Say They Were Attacked By Angry Little League Parents | NBC 4i
It is crazy that parents get this upset during these little guys games. |
I mentioned it in another post, but I have officiated all levels of amateur baseball and the most trouble seems to come from youth parents and coaches. I think the issues lies within the fact that a good majority of coaches at this level do not know half of what they think they know and that the parents think "Little Johnny" is going to be the next superstar so everything bad has to be due to the fault of others.
Sounds to me while there was a ball hit into the field of play that it had no bearing on the play. Parents and coach were looking for an excuse and someone other than their-selves to blame for a loss. |
I'm in Columbus for work and this story led the local news last night. What's worse is the parents are blaming the umpires (read the comments after the article).
The disgusting part is that the police and the DA aren't really willing to arrest anyone. It's almost as if they are condoning such behavior as part of the norm. |
I'm in Columbus for life, but hadn't heard about this until now. Kind of sickening that the authorities seem not to care about this. I imagine that might change now that it's getting some press.

Sounds like the Umpires dont know any of the parents by name. Without a name, address and DOB, the victims can't press charges with the SA.
The Police are going to have to do some interviews and investigations and hopefully find out atleast the identity of the primary aggressor. |
Unbelievable!
I wonder who was PU? My guess is the son, he didn't get hit in the face:D I don't know about you, but if anyone approaches me after a game and they come within ten feet of me, I'm squarin' up! This is why I always leave through the winning dugout! |

And there will be another game they will be attending. |
