How could a crew chief be ready to start play and not notice that his partners weren't on the field? Wow.

My thought exactly, WOW.

I wish nobody said anything, I was hoping for more.

That's what I would call self-absorbed. His crew should have waited to see how long it would be till he noticed he was working one-man mechanics.

Is it not odd for him to have walked onto the field alone in the first place?

I do not find anything nefarious or psychological about what happen. I think he probably was told they were ready to go and probably did not realize they were not out there with him. Honest mistake.

I always see them come out of the tunnel together, though...that is just as weird...how did he ever make all the way out there alone?

Actually, next time you're AT a rain delay (and not watching on TV), watch the umpires. PU often comes out first and talks to both benches. Not always, but I've seen it many many times. Sometimes they head back in after talking with the benches, but not always.

Ok, I did not realize that....I am eating Polish Sausages during rain delays.

Perhaps this was just a prank pulled by the rest of the crew -- kinda like the "empty dugout" of "ignore him" some teams pull after a HR.
