How Not to Handle an Ejection

This is a terrible example of how an umpire lost control of himself. Once the ejection has been made, the police come onto the field for some reason.

Stupid dufus. And where was his partner?

And who on Earth called the cops?

And what's with the gray t-shirt?

The BU needs to relax, and then go do some sit ups.

If a team called the police for any reason, the game would be over and I would leave.

Oz, Your just being hard on the guy because of his pretty grey T-shirt.

Three cops are on the field and the idiot fans are screaming "We need to play ball here!"

I know the BU lost his cool and did not conduct himself professional but really...this warranted a police response?

When you get right down to it, most umpire-coach "disagreements" probably amount to disturbing the peace at least on the part of the coach.

Anyone else wondering if the coach accused the ump of threatening violence? That's the only reason I can think of for the police to care.

Not to mention many fan reactions.

I have to think that is it...of course this is Boulder we're talking about so who knows.

First, we don't see anything that led up the ejection. Apparently, the moron coach in the shorts had been on the BU for some time to be able to elicit such a reaction. He had probably been running his mouth since the first inning. I heard him say that the umpires had been horrible all game, blah, blah, blah. Sure, the BU overreacted, but after he screamed the coach off the field, he walked away and didn't further escalate things. I've seen a lot worse. And, when in Boulder, remember...it's puff, puff, pass.;)

Two thoughts: 1) what the coach said to the police doesn't have to have any bearing on what the umpire actually said to the coach. 2) The umpire does say something to the coach that's drowned out by a fan near the camera.

But I'm sure the coach had it coming, we just aren't allowed to serve just desserts.

Thank goodness I work in a place where I have many different assignors. I could lose one and I wouldn't miss it for a minute.

Nobody is calling the police on me and thinking the game is going to continue like nothing happened.

Just curious how we know the police were called at all. Perhaps they were there anyway, heard the ruckus, and having nothing better to do in Boulder, went to insert themselves uninvited.
