Runner on 2nd and 3rd 1 out. Fly ball hit to right field. right fielder makes the catch and both runners tag. right fielder throws to third base to no avail. R3 scores and R2 is safe at third. The defense appeals the tag at second and he left early. He is called out which makes it 3 outs end of inning. Does the run count or not? (Fed, NCAA, LL,DYB)

Score the run under all rules..............
This is a timing play, not a force out.

I always get questioning looks and questions between innings from partners who wonder why I give the "time play" signal in that situation.

Whenever you have one out, R3, and R1 and/or R2, you have a time play possibility.

Second and third, 1 out....HMMM, no time play signal. R2 and 2 down, definately. What a lot of guys do not realize is the R1/R3 one out sit...good job.....

There should be:

Fly ball, R2 and R3 tag, R3 sees the ball thrown to third so he slows down (no play at the plate), R2 is thrown out.

The thing that confuses me is how many give the signal with R3 (only) and two outs. IT's an awfully strange play when R3 can't score before the BR is put out after reaching first. ;)

R1 and R3 today, 2 outs. R1 steals, dekes and such ends up in pickle, R3 scores, R1 gets nailed....."SCORE THAT RUN" Ya never know.....
2Cd play you mention, R3 has a 40 footer tacked on his butt???
