Here is a link from a story about Barry Bonds comments on how the strike zone is being worked in MLB. He is supportive of the umps and pissed at MLB management.

WAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Barry needs to get over himself.

DownTownTonyBrown Fri May 16, 2003 11:23am

Definitely. He is a rather disrespectful person.

Quote:

"I feel sorry for the umpires," he said. "I think it's embarrassing for them as professionals. I think it's embarrassing to us as professionals. I think it's not fair for people to pay money to watch baseball based on a computer, or anyone evaluated based on a computer. I don't think it's right. I think that's embarrassing.
I'm not sure he's sharp enough to be embarassed. I'm certain he is not humble enough.

I'm confused

Do you disagree with Bonds on this? Do you approve of the computer evaluations?

I've seen many things on which to disagree with Bonds, but this isn't one of them.

Good for him.

I agree with GarthB. I think Bonds comments are not intended to be about him but more towards how the MLB management has screwed around with everyone.

I agree with Bonds.

Bonds is right on....

And this from a Dodger fan!!!!Couple of friends of mine that worked PBUC last year were telling me the Questec system was calling the curve that ends up in the dirt was considered a strike. It may nibble the "hollow below the knee" , but when the catchers scooping dirt with a pitch...I got a real hard time calling a strike

I agree with Bonds. It is taking away from the game.. As a blue, when I sit there and see a fast ball hit the catcher in the mit right where he set up on the outside corner, to hell with a stupid computer system that cannot see the last 3 feet of a pitch anyways. The puppy is a strike all day everyday!

The human element of the game has been there forever and thats the way it should stay!!! Every umpire has a little (some huge) difference in thier strikezones and we all know that. Next thing they will have the damn computer judging them on safe/out calls. Do we really want to see that??? I sure don't!!! Get rid of the computer and let the umps call thier game!!
