FED rules. Two substitutes entered into the game for two starters. Coach wants to courtesy run for his pitcher. Can the starter on the bench be a courtesy runner?

A courtesy runner has to be an eligible sub and he can't have been in the game already in any other capacity.

To my recollection, California has yet to adopt the courtesy runner state option. There is also no 10-run rule here either. Brutality.

I always found it funny that the courtesy runner rule is invoked as a way to speed up the game, but after a strike out the coach demands his team throw the ball around and waste time in celebration.

Thanks for the replies. I was just making sure that I was correct. My partner is a few years my senior and was thinking that the starter on the bench could be a courtesy runner do to him still being eligible to reenter. He was uncertain and I was certain so the courtesy runner was not allowed.
