MLB adopts FED 1B running lane interp
Friday Astros Marlins, bunt fielded and fielder sails throw over F3. BR was outside the lane all the way (as every BR has been in the last few years). U1 calls interference. He must have read the FED case play which I don't think is in there any more. So much for quality throw. Next to come MLB adopts the FED FPSR after somebody took it in the shins after an over slide.
Sorry, no video available now. Last edited by umpjim; Fri Apr 08, 2011 at 10:15pm. |

There was in interesting one out in San Francisco today. Runner was outside the running lane the entire way and Pujols drops the ball. Was it a bad throw or did the B/R affect F3's ability to field the throw?

Someone already has a broken leg due to a hard slide, and Hanley Ramirez had to be carried off the field yesterday due to a hard slide directly into his shin.

Sorry, I haven't applied myself to the emoticons but my post should have had the tongue in cheek one. But, in the Astros Marlins game the throw was sailed over F3 and int was called similar to an earlier but no longer in the FED case play sit. No quality throw. I would not call thet one in HS.

From 2004 Interps. There are several interps that have never made it to case book.
SITUATION 20: As B1 bunts, F2 fields the ball in front of home plate in fair ground. B1 is running in fair ground as he nears first base. F2 realizes he does not have a line of sight to F3 and tries to lob the ball over B1. F3 leaps but cannot catch the ball. RULING: B1 is out for interference. Although F2 made an errant throw, B1 is guilty of interference by being out of the 3-foot running lane. (8-4-1g) |
