Foul tip after bounce?

A pitch hits the ground in front of the plate, and then is "tipped" by the bat and caught by the catcher. Is this a foul tip, a foul ball, a caught foul fly, or what?

Foul ball, hit the bat twice.

Oh wait, hit the ground then the bat. I would rule foul tip. Ball went in-flight from bat to glove. I could be wrong, but on the field I'd roll with that.

If the ball went directly and sharply from the bat to the mitt, foul tip.

The only thing that a bounced pitch cannot be is caught for a 3rd strike.

So it can be a foul tip on the third strike? Is the batter out? Or does he become a runner?

It's a foul tip. That should answer the other two questions.

or any other called strike.

The pitched ball in the dirt, once tipped has now become a batted ball so the foul tip rule applies.

Sooner or later someone will have this happen. In 22 years I have never seen it happen.

3rd world.
