force play slide rule ncaa
2 man - who has primary responsibility for the force play slide rule interference.
plate or bases i know old cca said the plate should assist u1, but did they change that this year? is plate primary? thanks |
Can't speak for CCA, but PBUC has BU take the call until the ball is released to 1B. After that, it's PU's responsibility.
That said, either umpire can call it at any time. |

i don't have the new manual - it has been ordered, but i'm still waiting. can someone shed some light? thx.

Primary responsibility is with base umpire until he has to turn with the ball, then responsibility is transfered to PU.

Yeah, this has been the mechanic for a long, long time.
|
Pages 67 & 68 in this years CCA Manual. "Established PU's position on a ground ball in the infield, assisting on illegal slides and covering R1 if he advances toward third base."
The change is that in the past, PU only covered 3B on a ball that left the infield on a base hit. Also, the PU would watch the slide into 2B from the 1B side of the mound. Now the PU goes to the 3B side of the mound and also retains dead ball responsibility on the overthrow of 1B. The only thing to remember with this change is that U1 must now own the swipe tag call. Hope this helps. |
That is true. I forgot about that change in mechanics.

Obviously, there are times where he could, but I would never assume he was able. |
