On a 1950 episode of "Kraft Television Theatre," my dad played a bully who was making life miserable for Leslie Nielsen. (I think both actors, age 24 at the time, played college students.) Anyway, Leslie Nielsen then "killed" my dad and stuffed him in a trunk, but in a surprise ending, my dad showed up (somehow not dead) and apologized to Leslie Nielsen for having picked on him.
Those were the days of live TV. The cast of the "play" was often introduced to the audience at the end, and each actor took a bow.
