Jerry Manuel ejected

I think they eventually got this right. Kinda surprises me this call was reversed though.
Also, watching it live, the umpire conference seemed to last a heck of a lot longer than in this clip.

I thought it was interesting how he conducted his conference. You can see PU looking at each umpire individually and asking him what he saw or heard.

They got the call right...but they only had one look at it. We got to watch the replay.

I thought he umpires were very professional throughout the entire process...Manuel did not conduct himself in a professional manner. Great ejection.

Seems to me a case of an old school skipper vs. a contemporary, "get it right" crew.

This play made me curious. Wasn't he initially called out on strikes, indicating the umpire ruled the pitch in the strike zone? Wouldn't a strike be the correct call in that case, even if it hit the batter?

Ah, just read the article. I get it now (foul tip strike).

The PU indicated that it was a foul tip. After the board meeting he ruled that it hit Rolen and not his bat.

Oh, probably, but I was only half paying attention to Sports Center this morning. Heard them say "called out on strikes" and they went to the conference and then to Manuel losing his head.

Sometimes when they want to go.....you have to let them leave. More information was requested. This request for information was received, and the correct call was made.

Perhaps he's not aware "The Garth" took his ball and went home......:D

More like he got tired of his name being drug through the mud on forums that he didn't even frequent. I can't say I blame him.
