Is that a LL patch on his shoulder?

grunewar Sat May 08, 2010 12:15pm

Sheesh, I could barely hear him! I think he would be much more effective if he would express himself more, be more descriptive, and louder! (sarc)

Looks like a PONY patch, which means someone is actually paying this tool.

LL tools can also be paid.

So true. All the LL leagues I had the opportunity early on in my career and chose not to do were paid leagues or tournaments.

Peace

Doesn't look like he's wearing any protective gear.

Anyways, he must have attended the Frank Drebin School of Umpiring.

He is clearly a graduate of the Cokalinksi Combine. We will be seeing him in the "Big Game" soon enough.

God Bless Him! If he can get paid for calling games like that, more power to him. He must be somewhere where the next closest umpire must be in another area code.

Isn't there a saying something like: "It's not the tool, it's the user?"

jwwashburn Mon May 10, 2010 04:38pm

Someone help me...I have a serious problem

I want to see this guy call a whole game....I must be insane.

Bryant the umpire is better

Well, then!

Let's see your strike and out call...see if Bryant got it right!

johnnyg08 Mon May 10, 2010 07:15pm

You know what the crazy thing is about this video...there are people in the stands that probably "love how clear he gives the signals" and lets people know what's going on. "He doesn't just stand there like the regular boring umps." I'm sure he gets positive feedback on his style from the crowd.

SecondVideo of Kid

Bad part, his father is an umpire but he is wearing a catcher's protector. Makes you wonder if it's the chest protector his father uses.

johnnyg08 Mon May 10, 2010 07:59pm

Obviously he hasn't been trained...it appears as though the desire is there. If he's receptive to feedback and invests in some gear...at least some black shoes, he may not look like "blue" and instead an umpire.

I work fastpitch softball with that chest protector. It was cheap to get started and I just haven't upgraded to something nice yet. Does it make a real difference?

I would at least get something with hard shoulder caps but they're your shoulders. :)

The first sharp foul ball to the collar bone and you will see the difference it makes!

It is only important if you like: discolored and sore places on your chest and shoulders, arms that can't be raised above your shoulders, you feel like you are going to die every time you take a breath, etc.. I hope you get my point. When I first started out, I felt invincible; was I ever wrong.

That protector is only applicable to T-Ball for an umpire. When F2 is wearing the protector, he has a glove between him and the pitch.
