Chances are the Manager's will be joining their players so I will get the answer from the coach who the manager appoints. This said I will play odds that he won't be bright enough to care.

It seems to me that the only thing needed to put the ball back into play would be for the pitcher to step on the rubber. In that case the pitcher would have to be substituted first.
Replacing the runner at first would be optional to the manager since the runner would be free to abandon the base to which he is entitled.
