Most of our games in MN kick off in April...but that can very easily get pushed back a few days or up to a week depending on the rain and yes, snow...Many college teams in MN go south to start their schedule in March. The high school league in MN also did something that doesn't allow teams to go further than 600 miles away...which I don't think gets them too far south to get away from the cool weather...it might I guess. Some will get a few games in the metrodome as well. There are teams in MN that don't get much of a home schedule since the ice doesn't even melt off of the lakes until May in some places so they play nearly their entire schedule away.

Practice starts March 1. However we got 30" of snow Fri-Sat and another 20" is expected to start today. All that snow will be here a long time.
This is a record setting winter for snowfall in MD.

Nimrod actually means hunter -- it took on its current meaning when Bugs Bunny used it in reference to Elmer Fudd and everyone assumed it meant "idiot."

I've met a few people named Nimrod and one currently is a star point guard for the #2 big division basketball team in the state.

Hey Nimrod!

Get yourself reciprocal certification in Michigan, drive up and call a hoops game, Rich. It's only 300 miles from Madison.

Have a great game.

Started preseason tourney 2/27 with a DH - no issues, decent weekend weather for a change.

Previous weekend, did a showcase-style scrimmage run by a scouting website. Paired up with a guy who will start doing HS ball next year - has been doing LL and rec ball for about 4 years. Nice enough guy, and with some mechanics tweaking, will be a decent HS umpire. However, was a bit taken aback by this statement in our pregame: "I've got my clicker and my plate brush to dust off the rubber between innings!" Sigh...I told him that's great, but please don't clean off the rubber in a HS game...

Glad to see that that happens in your part of the state, too. LOL
