Reebok Field Magistrate Plate shoes on eBay
There's a guy, rrmilliner, selling Reebok plate shoes for $60 OR best offer. Has anyone found the bottom price he'll take?
|
I just got a pair of plate shoes for $30. He might take a lower bid, so try it.
Good luck boys! He's got turf shoes too, so there's no excuse not to get new shoes right now. I'm going to rotate these with my NB450s, and they'll last me a LONG time. |

Wrong guy, SA. Those are 90 clams.
Try this: eBay Seller: rrmilliner: magistrate, Clothing, Shoes Accessories items on eBay.com Just be sure to bid less than $30, and see if he takes it. Again, $30 worked for me. |
"Reebok Field Magistrate Tuf SZ 12"
Are these a new kind of plate shoe without the leather flap over the front of them? I'm told that they have steel toes, but I've never seen plate shoes without a leather flap. Please inform me... |

Obviously (?) you'll have to look at the pictures to determine which ones are plate shoes, and which ones aren't. The plate shoes look like orcas. Cookie, these are the ones to look for. http://www.refereescall.com/prodimag...eball/sh94.jpg Do I need to hold everyone's hand to get them a deal on shoes? Hurry before all the "normal" sizes are gone (they even have a 19!) A couple years ago, Amazon had the original WV chest protector for $30. I told everyone here about it, and the smart ones bought several. Others hemmed a hawed, and didn't pull the trigger. Do what you want. |
Thanks Kylejt,
Your picture (shoes with the flaps) are not the ones I'm seeing on Ebay from the same seller. Even though rrmillner tells me that they have steel toes, all I see are the threaded shoe strings (no flaps). They look like base shoes to me. Cookie,
Those are not plate shoes, those are base shoes. |
The description's missing that all-important letter r in the word turf.
|
Guys, here's how to find them:
Go to eBay Search for "reebok magistrate". Look for shoes that match the picture I posted. Bid $30 or less, and see what happens. My bid got accepted at $30, so he might take less. Thank me later. The "normal" sizes are getting thin. Good luck fellers. |
I had these shoes last year, sold them to a friend in Europe. I was so conflicted about them:
(1) They are, bar none, the most comfortable plate shoes I've ever worn. (2) They are, bar none, the ugliest plate shoes I've ever worn. (3) They have a suede-like finish in too many places that does not really polish well. This was the deal-breaker for me. If I can't shine my shoes well and quickly, the manufacturer has no clue about umpiring shoes. I'm waiting for the next generation to see if they fix these issues. In the meantime, I bought a pair of Honig's low tops. |
Thanks everyone for following up with my question. I do see the Reebok plate shoes w/flaps, but those are the low cuts(I'm not interested). I was searching for mid-cuts like my current NB 450, and I was beginning to think that Reebok had a mid-cut with a thick flap tucked inside the threads, especially after rrmillner emailed me that they were steel toed. But that's not the case; it's only a highly durable plastic (TUF), probably similar to my current NB field shoes.
Thanks again everyone |

I tried $20 and $25 no deal, took a deal at $30. Now have a second pair to go along with the ones I have now that are 1/2 year old. Great pick up

I think ump-attire might have one as well.

2) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think they look great, and I've gotten many compliments on them from players, managers, and other umpires. 3) The suede-like sides wash up really nice and are covered by properly fitted plate pants anyway. The toe, heel, and metatarsal plate all shine up very brilliantly to a mirror-like finish and always look sharp as a tack. Honig's shoes always look so pedestrian. The Reebok's look and feel like a million bucks, IMO. |
I got them for $35 on eBay yesterday.
I had already bought the new version for this year, but couldn't pass up $35 for an extra pair of plate shoes. I'm set now for several years. |
Are the only sizes available, the ones that are listed?

STAND DOWN!
Someone just received their "plate" shoes today from these guys, and they're just low top base shoes. The good news is that when they complained, the got a full refund, AND got to keep the shoes. So, sorry guys, I f@#$ed up on this one. Bad lead. Mine are scheduled to be delivered today, so we'll see what I get. My bad. Oh well, free base shoes, I guess. |
Slightly off-topic
Need some new base shoes this year. Been loving and living in my NB 350s for the past few years, but they've seen better days. Have read some conflicting reports on the comfort of the 995s, which I hate to see because I love the NBs.
I need a w-i-d-e shoe, and can only find the Reebok Field Magistrates in D width. Do they exist in wides, or am I consigned to the NBs? Thanks. |

When you get them let us know what you got. Mine are coming too and I figure I'll get the base shoes as well. Thanks. |
Ebay has a transaction success rate that must be considered just short of miraculous. Things should go wrong way more often than they actually do. I've been buying crap on there for several years now--all kinds of crap--and I got the wrong thing one time. (Some guy sent me the wrong box of baseball cards.) When my son started playing wood bat scout ball, I went up and started finding wood bats. I wound up hooking up with some current pros and two ex-major leaguers and acquired four dozen pro stock wood bats of several brands and colors, and for some of them, I paid one fourth what they were worth.

Before I did, I even asked San Diego Steve if he wanted me to grab it up for him, but he already bought his All-Star by that time. The manuals were listed in the books category, and the guy with the J/R also had the BRD and the MLB manual, so I grabbed them all. It's like treasure hunting, so it takes patience and diligence, but it gets to be worth it after awhile. |
I got my Fechheimer sport coat the same way. You've got to get creative in your searches.
I got my non-plate shoes this morning, and fired off an email. We'll see what happens. Update: They just offered my money back, including shipping charge back. It was an honest mistake. But these shoes are really nice. I might just keep them as backups to my 350s. The price is reasonable. |
Everything I have read about these shoes states a "reinforced toe box". I take that to mean "not a steel toe".
Anyone else confirm this? |
