Wilson Traditional Mask Pads
Anyone know where I could find a pair of the Wilson traditional replacement mask pads? I have the Wilson Titanium mask and have noticed several MLB umpires replacing the factory wrap-around style pads with a traditional style set of Wilson tan pads in the non wrap-around. I would prefer the traditional style, but can't find them anywhere in the tan color.
In fact, in last night's game 3 of the NLCS, Sam Holbrook was wearing the very style mentioned. See picture of Sam Holbrook (click here). Gerry Davis offers them in black (Amara Traditional Pads: Gerry Davis Sports). Anyone know where I could find them in the tan? |
Honig's sells generic ones if you can't find the Wilsons (which is tough):

I have used these exact pads, and they feel wonderful. The downside of these is, they only lasted me one season, as the sweat and rubbing of my chin caused a hole in the bottom pad.

It's too bad wilson decided to discontinue the traditional pads. My set of all black, calf skins have been on my masks since 2001 with nary a stitch loose or even a worn spot. To me, finding a replacement set is my "holy grail." I don't know what I will have to go through to find a set of pads once these are worn out.

I wore a hole in mine too, took it to a leather shop and they fixed it...I don't use that mask anymore...but not because of the leather...

I now use the Gerry Davis 50/50 pads. Those are super.
