You gotta give this kid credit for having the stones to do something he is obviously in to. Don't bang on him too much. He will get better.

On a side note, I didn't know canadian baseball teaches left handed out calls.

kylejt Sat Aug 22, 2009 09:43am

He reminds me of Carl Spakler

The video is a mirror image of what it should be. The pocket on his shirt is on the right side in the video, and the buttons are on the wrong side. Somehow the image was reversed.

He may be "into it", but he has no business offering instructions. He should be taking some.

cc6, is that you?

Give it a rest.

For cryin' out loud, speak up and e-nun-ci-ate!

So yeah, so anyway, um, so this is an OK video that, ah, teaches you how to umpire. Yeah. So, I wonder when the next one, um, comes out.

In response to your legit question, no it is not me in the video.

So, if I want the black shirt, I should click on that on the website? Should I tell them my size, as well? Will they need my address to get that shirt to me?

Odd that one of the videos is about "Looking the part", even though his goofy hair is hanging over his ears and out of the bottom of his hat.

That's cuz he's practicing his mechanics in bathroom mirror.

jwwashburn Sun Aug 23, 2009 04:45pm

Does a batter run to third instead of first in Canada, then?

And I think somebody keeps trying to get in and use the bathroom and he has to keep closing the door.

Episode 3: Umpire Ediquette

SanDiegoSteve Sun Aug 23, 2009 06:02pm

He needs to hit the spell check before posting the videos.

He talks like he's afraid of waking up someone in the house.

zm1283 Sun Aug 23, 2009 08:07pm

This kid's picture is next to the definition of "tool" in the dictionary.

cc6 Sun Aug 23, 2009 08:56pm

This is a clever beginning umpire's video. Includes interviews with fans: YouTube - It's My Turn - Baseball Umpire

No, it's entitled "Looking Apart." And he certainly does.

(Maybe it's Canada-Speak, eh?)

Yeah I noticed that after I posted about that title.

SanDiegoSteve Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:11pm

Does it come in a set along with the "Ediquette" video?

Kevin Finnerty Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:35pm

I went to school with a guy named Ed Duquette. His nickname was Ediquette. Ironically, he was boorish and crude.

That is some irony there, for sure.

YouTube - UMPIRES CORNER EPISODE 4: Coach-Umpire Relationship

Why doesn't he close the door BEFORE he turns on the camera?

jwwashburn Sat Sep 05, 2009 04:57pm

If he comes at you yelling: "You gotta be f***ing kidding me!"

That's when ya give em the boot, eh.
