Swinging 3rd Strike Dead Ball

Interesting situation I was discussing w/ my partner last night. Batter swings at a third strike in the dirt which bounces into dead ball territory. I'm awarding the batter first base, unless the ball hit him. I can't find this situation within a casebook. I am basing my judgement on the one base award on a ball thrown from the rubber. Is this correct?

If there is a runner on 1B with less than two outs, the batter is out and all runners on base are awarded one base. If there is no one on 1B or there are two outs with a runner on 1B, the batter is not out, the batter is awarded 1B, and all runners on base are awarded one base.

MTD, Sr has it correct in my opinion.

7.05(h) and the statement after 7.05(i), which, despite its positioning, applies to both (h) and (i).
