Tichenor non-call mechanics
 

Bos v. KC yesterday. Potential running lane interference.
I thought the replays confirmed the no call.

However I was really impressed by Tichenor's mechanics. Yeah, I know he's a pro and should do this, but the replays were a clinic.

Bases loaded, grounder to F3 throws home to F2; Tichenor took the force call on third base extended, then sprinted up the line for the return throw to F3.
Really looked sharp. How many guys, myself included, might have taken the throw from first extended and had to make the interference call with a telescope? It was a good reminder for me.

I agree - good no-call by Tichenor. Although Varitek was out of the running lane before the throw was made, I thought he re-entered at the time the throw struck him.

I hope someone was covering plate because R2 was rounding 3B on the play

No, I'm sure that this major league crew gave no consideration to R2 at all.:rolleyes:

you are right, the 3B Umpire Derryl Cousins would have outsprinted Jason Bay to the dish.:)
