My two seconds of fame

Sportscenter aired a "Where are they Now" story this morning about Mike Hargrove. The two days they were in Liberal for the story I was working the games. You see my mug for two seconds during the plate meeting; I'm the plate guy with facial hair. I have arrived on cable!:D:D

I hope Hargrove wasn't teaching his team the "human rain delay" tactic. :D

Heh; no, actually the games went pretty swiftly; out in about 2 hours for 9 inning games both nights.

Here's the video:

My partner is Asa Howard, the D-II Umpire Coordinator. We had a good time!

You look nothing at all like I pictured you! I always pictured you looking more like your partner Asa for some reason. Older, grayer and taller.

Heh; I've only got a few gray hairs; I'm only 30 and my kids are too young (4 and 9 months) to have done serious follicle damage. :D

Oh and Ozzy; I've tried, believe me. I've sported the goatee since I was 17. My wife refuses to let me shave it, and it has never been a point of contention for me on the field or the court at this point. I'm planning on attending the Evans weekend clinic in September in Topeka though; I'll probably cut it before that, wife or no.

Pensaump Mon Jun 29, 2009 08:28am

I'll have to say, you are one ugly MUG!

Cool feature, good for you!

Kevin Finnerty Mon Jun 29, 2009 01:12pm

That was sweet!

ESPN, brother!

And hey, what's wrong with facial hair? And when a babe says "Don't ever shave," you don't ever shave!

Yeah, That collage summer league (wood bat League) baseball is good stuff. We have somthing simular here in Atlanta called the sunbelt league (www.sunbeltleague.com) Former catcher Todd Pratt coaches one of the teams. The games rarely go over 2.5 hours for 9 inns

MajorDave Mon Jun 29, 2009 10:39pm

Awesome Don!

I'm not sure it was a whole two seconds though. (grin).

One of the promotions: You could have a Linda Tripp look-alike contest ... open to men and women. :D
